2024 was a year that challenged us, shaped us, and ultimately propelled us forward. As is always the case, the year was not without moments of tension or its share of hard decisions, but those were the moments that defined us. At MatchPoint, we honed our focus, embraced what sets us apart, and committed to a future built on principles. We didn’t just weather challenges; we turned them into opportunities to refine and grow to deliver better outcomes for our clients, consultants, and partners. Here’s a look back at what we’ve accomplished, what we’ve learned and where we’re headed.

Key Achievements & Milestones

This year, we sharpened our focus and embraced a strategic shift towards specificity. We’ve ditched the overcrowded sandbox of generic staffing solutions and focused on where our expertise shines. By identifying highly specific IT niches, we have connected clients with the specialized talent they need to thrive in a rapidly changing technological environment. This has allowed us to build a reputation of precision and reliability. We have since partnered with clients who value our dedication to quality over quantity, creating sustainable, long-lasting relationships. From niche software developers to IT architects, we’ve proven we can deliver top-tier professionals who meet the professional needs and cultural environment of our clients with minimal effort on their part.

2024 was the year that we redefined our approach to marketing with a focused strategy tailored to our strengths. This initiative marked a pivotal moment, as we moved away from the common generalist IT staffing approach to one with a clear, deliberate message. We have embraced new tools and technologies that enable us to reach the right people with informative and non-intrusive communication, ensuring that our efforts resonate with clients and candidates. Even though these marketing efforts have only just begun, we are proud of the foundation that has been laid down to pave the way towards sustained meaningful growth.

One of our most proud achievements this year has been fostering alignment between the front of the house (sales & marketing) and the back of the house (recruiting & operations). By breaking down silos and encouraging collaboration, we have created an incredibly cohesive team. As a result, sales and marketing now help recruiters understand client needs with greater clarity, while recruiters provide valuable insights to improve client interactions. This alignment has enhanced our ability to identify and secure even the most elusive IT talent.

Our commitment to delivering specialized talent has paid off in tangible ways. We have expanded our client base while continuing to nurture and strengthen relationships with our existing partners. By supporting hiring managers quickly and effectively—saving them time and energy—we have solidified our reputation as a trustworthy resource. Feedback from our consultants has also underscored the success of our onboarding process, making transitions seamless for both clients and candidates.

We assess our success through the contentment of our clients and consultants.

When all parties are happy, we know we did our job.

Challenges Overcome

As has been the case since the pandemic, companies are wary to commit to hiring full time-hires upfront, causing them to lean heavily toward contract-to-hire models. This “try before you buy” approach reflects a desire to ensure a cultural and technical fit before making a long-term investment. This shift required us to recalibrate how we engage with both clients and candidates, and we’ve embraced it as an opportunity to grow. We have refined our screening and onboarding processes to cater to this model, ensuring we deliver top-tier candidates who seamlessly integrate into client organizations, whether for short-term projects or potential long-term roles.

We do not charge any fee for any customer who chooses to hire a consultant after 6 months. This is a win for all parties involved and why should a win-win come with a fee. We are playing the long game and trust that our customers will be back in the future as more opportunities arise.

Another challenge emerged as companies have scaled back their hiring drastically. Companies are hiring less people, looking for one person to fill the role of four. That one person needs to be a star and this reality heightened the demand for our expertise in identifying the “perfect fit.” We have responded by sharpening our focus on quality over quantity. Our collaborative approach—aligning our front and back of house—allowed us to fully understand client needs and precisely match them with highly qualified candidates. The cost of hiring the wrong person is high, so if you’re looking for one person, then that single person had better be great.

These challenges have underscored the importance of agility and flexibility in our operations. By embracing these lessons, we have not only navigated a complex hiring landscape, but we’ve also outperformed our competition through turning our changing environment into a growing advantage that we will continue to develop in the coming year.
